Duckpond House Concert No. 38
Kevin Welch
20 April 2018

We had Kevin scheduled to play a house concert here at the Duckpond last November but,
when Jonni was rushed off to hospital with a sub-dural haematoma, we had to cancel.
Fortunately Kevin was able to fit us into his short Victorian tour this year.

Sound engineer Trevor Pearson arrived very early to set up the PA for the evening

Jonni always goes to great lengths to cater for any food problems our artists may have.
Kevin, Sarah, Charlotte and Sam came totally without problems so they, and other family members
were able to enjoy one of Jonni's specialities - gumbo!

Kevin is probably better known as a songwriter who has had his songs sung by a multitude
of well known singers including Solomon Burke, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson.
However, he is blessed with a rich baritone voice which suits his songs perfectly.
Surely, few others could render the songs quite like he does.

Kevin cast a spell over the audience and had us hanging on every word and note.
It's always great to hear the stories behind the songs. Thanks to Lianne Slinger, who took this photo.

It was another wonderful evening of music, and it was great to get to know, on a more personal level,
someone whose music we've enjoyed for many years.

To find out more about Kevin, go to his website. If you'd like to listen to a few highlights of the songs
Kevin sang on the night, Jonni has put up a video on YouTube.
